LADY RAIDERS COLLECT WIN
Cleveland broke away from a
12-12 deadlock after a quarter to build a double-digit halftime lead before holding off Rogers (Ark.)
on Wednesday.
The Lady Raiders (14-2) controlled the glass in registering a 53-42 win over the
Lady Mounties (9-4) in losers’ bracket action. Cleveland held a 33-21 spread in the rebounding
department by day’s end. Rogers was also held to 4-of-20 on its 3-point attempts (20
percent).
The Lady Raiders jumped to a 14-point lead early in the third period before Rogers
nudged to within 36-30 early in the final stanza. But an 11-4 run by Cleveland pushed the margin back
to double figures with the Lady Mounties unable to get closer than nine points the rest of the
way.
Cleveland’s scoring attack was balanced with four players reaching double figures. Cierra
Anderson tossed in 13 and Q’Schara Brown added 11. Jessica King and Britny Latham contributed 10
apiece. O’Schara and King pulled down nine boards each. King’s strong effort also included a game-high
seven assists.
For Rogers, Oklahoma signee Morgan Hook led the way with 13 points and a
team-best three assists.
