Cosby's Wann Shine
BY WAYNE PHILLIPS SPORTS
EDITOR
Cosby's Lady Titans of Midlothian, Va. got a whale of a performance from Richmond
signee Becca Wann in rolling past Cleveland 81-48 Tuesday night.
Wann scored 24 points in the
first half on her way to a 35 point,16-rebound effort to lead the Titans in the romp. Wann
came up three assists short of a triple-double, something that has never happened in the 21-year
history of the Classic.
Cosby, in advancing to the semifinals, got 16 points from Andrea
Bertrand and 12 from Kelsey Conyers.
Wann basically took over the game in the first half
after teammate and ace scorer Jazmin Pitts was saddled with three fouls before the game was four
minutes old. The Titans led 21-10 at the first rest stop and 45-27 at intermission. The Raiders
tried to rally in the third but were unable to get the deficit less than 10 points.
Cleveland
(13-2) got 15 points each from Q'Schara Brown and Cierra Anderson and 13 from Jessica
King.
Cosby (6-0) had a mammoth 44-24 edge in rebounding in advancing to the tournament
semifinals on Wednesday night.
