Wildcats Finish This Time
BY WAYNE PHILLIPS SPORTS EDITOR
After letting a big lead get
away from them in their tourney-opening loss to Cleveland, Oak Ridge didn't let it happen Tuesday as
they beat Greeneville 57-38.
It did appear it could happen early in the second half. Oak Ridge
led25-17 at intermission, but the Lady Devils scored five straight and closed to 25-22. But the
Wildcats nipped that rally in the bud and went on a 9-1 run to gain some distance and earn a 42-29
lead by the horn.
They continued to widen the gap in the final period.
The Wildcats
(11-2) got a double-double from Jazzmin Hazzard with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Dequesha McClanahan
was also solid with 17 points and six assists. Armeka Booker chipped in with 12
points.
Greeneville (10-4) got a nice effort from Brianna Kelley with 11 points, eight
rebounds and four assists. Chandler Christopher and Rainey Story each scored nine points in
support.
