Mounties Beat Huskies
The team that traveled the
farthest for the Ladies' Classic, Rogers High from northwest Arkansas, beat the smallest school in
the field, North Greene, 55-33 in the evening finale.
The defensive effort was there for the
Huskies early as the Mounties (9-2) held a slender 10-7 lead after one quarter. But Rogers was equally
solid on defense in the second frame as the Huskies could manage a single field goal and dropped
behind, 17-9, at intermission.
It seemed that the Huskies remained stuck on the number nine
for much of the third before they finally got a spurt going, but by the horn the Mounties were in
command at 35-22, and they continued to widen the gap down the stretch.
Morgan Hook, the
University of Oklahoma signee, scored 13 points, had six rebounds and dished out six assists, all
team highs. Taylor Murphy chipped in with 11 points.
Dakota White was the only Lady Husky in
double digits as she fired in 16 points and yanked off seven rebounds.
Rogers shot 48 percent
from the floor (22-46) compared to only 32 percent for the Huskies (11-34).
