Fourth Quarter Propels Rebs BY WAYNE PHILLIPS SPORTS

Maryville High School used a huge fourth quarter to break away from a44-44 tie and get
past the Chuckey-Doak Lady Knights 61-48 in the tournament's opening game Monday.
Down 22-9
after one quarter, the Lady Knights had an uphill battle but finally caught up with the Rebels as
the third quarter ended with a44-44 tie. But Maryville (9-1) stepped up their defensive effort in
the final period and went on a 14-0 run over the first six minutes of the quarter to take
command.
Tori Vaught and Miranda Maples shared top scoring honors for Maryville with 15
points each, while Maples had a double-double with 11 rebounds.Carrie Goodson chipped in with 12
points and five assists.
Chuckey-Doak (8-3) got 14 points from Brooke White, including
four3-pointers. She also had five assists. Tiffany Bowman had 11 points and nine
rebounds.
Maryville shot a brillliant 67 percent from the floor, hitting 26-of-39field goals,
and they scored 38 points from the paint. The Knights managed only 36 percent from the field for the
game.
