Farragut Blocks Lady Huskies
Farragut’s Lady Admirals
had too much size for scrappy North Greene and turned back the Huskies 63-46.
The game saw
one tournament record tied when Farragut’s Hayley Newby blocked seven North Greene shots on the day.
As a team, the Admirals blocked 11 shots.
Farragut started strong and led 19-6 after one
quarter and seemed tohave things in control with a 32-15 halftime advantage. But the Huskies refused
to pack it up. Farragut pulled ahead by as many as 21 points late in the third, but North Greene
played hard down the stretch and closed the deficit to 10 points with just under four minutes left
in the contest.
But the Admirals were able to weather the storm and increased their margin
slightly in the closing minutes.
Stephanie Torrence scored 22 points to lead the winners.
Jennifer Rutherford chipped in 11. In addition to her seven blocked shots, Newby had eight points and
10 rebounds.
North Greene got a nice 18 point, 8 rebound effort from Dakota White,while
Mariah Britton scored 13 and had five assists. Shyler Miller had four steals. Poor free throw
shooting hurt the Huskies, who made only16-of-32 for the game.
