The Morristown West Lady Trojans remain unbeaten on the year at
10-0 after impressively putting away Shelbyville 54-33 in one of the most anticipated matchups of
the day.
The Eaglettes from the mid-state, always one of the powers in girls basketball in
the state of Tennessee, couldn’t catch the Trojans after falling behind by a 27-16 margin at
intermission.
Junior Taylor Hall led the winners with 22 points while Sidney Goins scored 15
and led on the boards with nine caroms. West shot 49 percent from the floor in the game after making
58 percent of their shots in the first half. They made 22 field goals off 19 assists, seven of those
by point guard Megan Fanney.
Shelbyville (7-5) got 15 points from Ceny Phelps and 10 from
Hannah Dawson, but the Eaglettes hit only 29.7 percent from the field and made 25
turnovers.
