Lady Red Battles Back

Down 35-30 at halftime, Cocke County came storming back after intermission and won going away over Sycamore by a 66-51 margin.

The Lady War Eagles, who obviously have never seen a 3-point shot that they didn't like, were bombing them in from all angles in the first half, making 8-of-16. But they cooled off considerably in the second half and made only three more, finishing the contest by making 11-of-30on the night.

Meanwhile, Cocke County warmed up with a superior inside attack and got21 points and eight rebounds from Shannon Depew and 15 points and seven boards from Allie Sprouse. Point guard Morgan Buda chipped in with 13 for good measure. The Lady Red never took their first lead until Buda converted a layup with 4:50 left in the third that put them ahead 40-38.

From that point on it was all Cocke County (13-3).

Sycamore (8-5) was led by Shawna Ellis with 13 points while Andrea Seagroves scored 10.
